• " Pickering Veterans' Association" is proud to have a new division known as "Past and Present". We are a
group of Veterans who meet on a monthly basis for camaraderie and to hear informative presentations on
resources and topics primarily about the impact of war on a soldier and the stresses of reintegration to society
/their families following their return from duty.
• To unite Veterans who have returned from various missions throughout the world in service to their
country since 1960.
• Endeavour to keep the name “Veteran” alive in the Community long after the current war has ended.
This is a top priority in our Club. We want to ensure the respect of those that served in wars previous and
present.
• To ensure the Veterans from our original Pickering Veterans’ Association meet with the present Veterans
returning from the current missions throughout the world. Work to the same ultimate goal of continuing
awareness of Veterans in our community.
Accountability:
We will ensure effective and ethical management of the resources/responsibility our Community gives us in
various duties while volunteering our time to Not for Profit Organizations.
Leadership:
Ensure a strong united voice to strengthen our effectiveness in the Community.
Recognition:
Volunteer our time to give our support to the Not for Profit Clubs of Durham especially working with the youth of
our community.
Knowledge:
Increase the knowledge in the community of the positive results being performed in the various countries where
our soldiers are stationed.
Invite the past and present veterans to various events such as the yearly barbeque; presentations each group is
participating in; Christmas Parties; D Day Services; Remembrance Day Celebrations etc., which will create a
camaraderie between both young and the older veterans.
Meet monthly to share: Camaraderie
Stories AND experiences during their service in the military.
Discuss how we can help the Not for Profit Clubs in the Community
Ultimate goal of the meeting is to make happier, healthier Veterans
